This past weekend, the mainstream news media were breathlessly reporting that an arrest of a Salvadorian immigrant for killing a young Washington, DC woman named Chandra Levy is imminent.
The case originally received so much media attention that she became a household name. While the media continue their fascination with this case, they have -- for the most part -- failed to identify the suspect as an illegal alien already locked up in prison for previous attacks on American women, preferring to call him an immigrant or a Salvadorian National.

BENTONVILLE — A rape case was dropped Monday against a Rogers man because prosecutors said they can't locate the victim.Arnulfo De Jesus Escobar, 24, has been in jail since his June arrest on charges of rape, aggravated assault on a family or household member and terroristic threatening.Prosecutors can refile within one year.Escobar was accused of breaking into a home on West Linda Lane and raping a woman there.He has a hold through the Immigration and Customs Enforcement.Defense attorney Louis Lim of Bentonville objected to the dismissal, saying his client was ready for trial today.

SPRINGDALE -- A routine traffic stop Thursday along Interstate 540 led to the arrest of 16 undocumented immigrants from Mexico looking for employment.At 6 p.m., a Springdale officer saw several people inside the Ford Excursion during the traffic stop. The officer recognized the driver, Ivan Soto Trejo, 20, as being previously deported in November 2008, according to a Springdale police news release.All 16 people were taken into custody by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Police would not say were on I-540 the traffic stop took place or if the group was headed to this area or just passing through.

A study done by US Representative Steve King of Iowa showed that 12 Americans are murdered daily by illegal aliens and 13 are killed by drunk illegal alien drivers, making an annual death toll of 4,745. More Americans are killed by Mexico’s sponsoring of illegal immigration than by Iran’s sponsoring of terrorism. Other stats about illegal alien crime can be found at http://immigrationcounters.com/. We may not be able to stop illegal immigrant crime throughout the US, but we can at least reduce it here in Arkansas.
