Secure Arkansas Announces Town Hall Meetings & other stuff

Jeannie Burlsworth, Founder and Chairman of Secure Arkansas, is hosting two town hall meetings in Northwest Arkansas which are open to the public and will focus on the impact of illegal immigration on the taxpayers of Arkansas. The first meeting will be held at the Rogers Public Library Monday, August 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the RPL Community Room. The second meeting will be at the Jones Center for Families in Springdale on Tuesday, August 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel. Jeannie Burlsworth said, "Are you tired of illegal aliens unfairly benefiting from the privileges of citizenship in Arkansas? Then bring your family and friends and voice your concerns. These meetings will be a great opportunity for you to educate yourself on this important issue, learn what you can do to make a difference, and find out what the future holds for Secure Arkansas."

Illegal aliens getting a pass: http://www.nwaonline.net/articles/

Laura Kellams, in a recent news story, stated," It's just a question of how much the students should pay to attend, not whether they can attend. Higher Education officials say no law requires colleges and universities to verify students' legal status for admission."Kellams' statements could be propaganda. She quoted a Department of Homeland Security statement that it "does not require any school to determine a student's status,"but she doesn't give the rest of the story. According to Internet blogs, the U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency's Pat Reilly said that the only way foreign nationals can attend college in the United States legally is through the agency's International Student Exchange and Visitors Program. Reilly explained why they don't go after the illegal aliens in colleges: The agency is more worried about enforcing immigration law in the workplace because it's the prospect of jobs that lures immigrants to the country illegally in the first place. In 8 U. S. C. Section 1621, postsecondary education is listed as one of the state and local benefits for which illegal aliens are not eligible. Then why shouldn't the question be whether illegal aliens can attend college in Arkansas ? This is a question numerous citizens should ask our governor since Mike Beebe was quoted by The Associated Press as saying," If you don't like the law, you try to change it in the way this country was set up and designed to change the law."
