The same objections to requiring proof of citizenship for voting are often given in opposing requiring proof of citizenship for state benefits. In addition to helping the Secure Arkansas ballot initative legally, it will help politically.

Speaking of the ballot initative, Dustin McDaniel has still not approved of the ballot initative. Here is an email from Secure Arkansas that shows what needs to be done right now:
Secure Arkansas Friends,
ALERT! This is an EMERGENCY!
This is one of the most important strategies that Secure Arkansas has organized. If you haven't called into Dustin McDaniel's office to request that he approve this ballot initiative, please call him this week at 501-682-2007 or 1-800-482-8982!
Please also write a letter to the editor of the Democrat Gazette or your local paper immediately! The main point is that we want this initiative certified. You have to sign your name and include your address and phone number for verification. (Your address will NOT be published.) There is an example below of a letter to the editor.
The initiative process needs to be fixed in Arkansas. We're not allowed to collect signatures or even vote on this issue until Attorney General Dustin McDaniel certifies our initiative to limit public benefits for illegal aliens! Some other states in the U.S. do not require this.
You can mail your letters to the Democrat Gazette Editor at this address:
Voices, Democrat GazetteP.O. Box 2221
Little Rock, AR 72203
Or you can fax your letter to 501-372-4765.
Or click this link to send a letter online: www2.arkansasonline.com/contact/voicesform/
These are things we CAN do! Nobody's hearing about this – we have to get the letters to the editors so it will be in the media!
Please send a donation if you can. None of our staff is paid.
Thanks for your help with this!
Sincerely,
Jeannie Burlsworth
Chairman, Secure Arkansas

As a law abiding Arkansas citizen, I am very happy that I will have the opportunity to sign the upcoming, "Secure Arkansas" petition. Although, as an Arkansas citizen, I have been very troubled that we, the people,of the United States, have been forced to take steps to protect our own state benefits from illegal immigrants.
